Costa BlancaThe Costa Blanca (Spain’s White Coast)
stretches some 160km from the Mar Menor in the south in the region of
Murcia to the town of Denia in the north.
The coastline varies
from flat plains in the south speckled with large salt-pans – complete
with resident flamingos – to the more dramatic rocky cliffs and bays of
the northern section.
Some of the Costa Blanca
beaches are among the best in Spain and the coastline in general is less built-up than the Costa del Sol.
Costa del AzaharThe
Costa del Azahar (Spain’s Orange Blossom Coast) stretches some 120km
from the small town of Sagunto north of Valencia to the town of Vinarós
in the Castellón province on the border with Catalonia.
Castellón is Spain’s
second most mountainous province and the coastline varies from flat agricultural plains carpeted in vast orange groves to pine-covered rocky cliffs and bays.
The Costa del Azahar has
miles of sandy beaches and some of the least developed coastline on the Spanish Mediterranean.
The area is as yet
undiscovered by large numbers of foreign residents.
