Leisure
With great weather, beaches and marinas, and a thriving central area, there is a very active leisure scene in Gibraltar, including many arts, dance and music groups.
The area is an ornithologist's dream, with biannual migrations overhead providing spectacular viewing. There is also the 160-strong colony of Barbary apes (actually Macaque monkeys) which inhabit the Rock. They are a protected species, and part of the legend that the British will rule Gibraltar as long as the apes remain.
A wide variety of venues put on performances and offer community opportunities, including the botanical gardens, St. Michael's cave, Casemates Square and the naval football ground.
